I don’t know about you, but I’ve been gobbled up and gripped by the Women’s World Cup.
We’ve seen counter attacks, low blocks, high-pressing and that’s just from the pundits and analysts in the studios.
The standards on show are astonishingly high and maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised by this, but I am.
It could be because I’m largely oblivious to the going’s on in the Women’s game, bar one or two of the superstars and tricky British forwards.
I gleefully stand enlightened and quite privileged to have had a real eye opener.
The real reason for starting this thread is not for me to waffle on self-indulgently about my new hobby, but to create a space for good discussion and debate. The WWC has thrown up plenty of narratives focussing on points that raise genuine questions about the female game. I find twitter can be somewhat noisy with, well, noise so let’s see if this medium can cut through some of that.
If you’re completely fed up with the Women’s World Cup and wish it would go away, then I offer my sincerest apologies and please ignore. But if you are interested and have a view on the following, please feel free to add. Absolutely anything at all. Within reason.
The discussion point that has gripped me and I’d like to lead with is “Goal Size”. Specifically, the size of the goals in the Women’s game.
I’ve posted some links to main stream pieces discussing differing sets of views and I’d genuinely be interested in hearing peoples thoughts on the subject, unqualified or not!

To shrink or not to shrink, that is the question.
As with most things, I’m currently in the camp of Hope Solo. https://twitter.com/hopesolo?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
